Hi! Welcome to Aurora Creative Designs Sewing Studio!

I'm Sherry Carrington.

I'm glad you've found your way here to our site. I started sewing in the mid 70's. I did some sewing with my mother growing up (mostly tweaking the tension on her Singer Jeannie, sewing on my blue jeans) and in Jr. High.(back when it was called Jr High, instead of Middle School) I did my first shirt with buttons, cuffs, and a collar. I was learning that I loved sewing.

At age 19 I bought my first sewing machine, It was a Kenmore from Sears. I found I enjoyed every new project and challenge, always willing to tackle new skills and techniques. Perusing through every sewing book and guide I could find. In '83' I got a sewing position with a couple of ladies who owned a sewing shop in Alabama. It took no time at all for me to realise that I knew very little about the art of sewing.

Over the following years I developed more skills and techniques as I sewed for family, children, friends, friends of friends, and working on many sewing projects .

I've owned and operated a sewing business for more than 10 years. I have completed the Dressmaking and Design program with Penn Foster, and worked on all kinds of challenging projects.

In recent years I’ve come to a place where sharing my love of sewing with the younger generations is a blast. It brings new energy, passion, and fresh creative spark.

Be sure to sign up for our e-newsletter and join us at Aurora Creative Designs Sewing Studio for great sewing fun for all.

February 9, 2010 February's meeting we will work on a few more hats and some mittens for pre-schoolers. We will also be learning about pressing and ironing our sewing projects as we go. Mac from the American Sewing Guild will be showing us some of the techniques she has learned.

January 12, 2010 January’s Meeting on Jan. 12, 2010 we learned to sew on polar fleece. We made 15 hats for preschool aged children at a local school. Some of the preschoolers don’t have access to winter gear. A local American Sewing Guild Member, Cherish K. will help us find the best preschool or headstart to donate them to.
